Double H Boots

Double-H Boots started in 1955 in Richland, Pennsylvania. The original factory was a shoe company with other facilities in the Reading area and no further needs for the Richland plant. The H. H. Brown Shoe Company purchased the building, looking for a location for the manufacture of Western shoes. The Richland plant was named Richland Shoe Co. and began producing cowboy boots and work shoes. Shortly after production, a competitor introduced a new style called "harness boot". H.H. Brown introduced a similar product called "Snoot Boot" and made it at Richland Shoe at a lower cost. For many years it was almost like the total production of the Richland plant. Richland shared the sales staff with the Carolina Shoe Company and had for a time a single sales manager. The west side of Richland continued to grow and a separate sales force and direction was created. By the 1970s, Western boots had become the majority of manufactured boots. The Richland plant was the first in the United States to manufacture safety-resistant western boots, the first to pass the standard 75-grade ANSI tests for safety footwear. When computerized novelty machines appeared on the shoe market, the product line grew into a western bootswear company. In 1981, it was necessary to enlarge again. A facility in Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania, was large enough to accommodate the manufacturing and warehouse. In 1993, the name was changed to Double-H Boots to reflect H. H. Brown's corporate heritage. Since 1955, Double-H Boots provides the best work shoes, urban and western for men, women, youth and children. Handmade in America, Double-H boots and shoes have a long tradition of durability, quality and excellence.
